Mopping Up!

So there I was mopping Kvell for the hundredumpteenth time…

…and like every time before there was a swath of black rubber slightly too wide for one mop pass but too small for two passes at the end of the mop sesh.

What’s a person to do?

Plan for next time, which I had failed to do leading up to this point (nobody is perfect, or so I tell myself to feel better about life).

Are you ready for the sheer brilliance of how to fix the issue?

Drumroll, please…

I thought to myself…

“If I use a slightly longer mop stroke, a few inches, every stroke by being conscious of it and using landmarks as measuring sticks I will eliminate the extra at the end.”

Problem solved.

Brilliant!

This may seem like common sense to you…because it is and yet I would bet my life’s savings that you are not utilizing this principle in some area of your life.

This seemingly inconsequently, trite, and “common sense” tool although known by all is utilized by few and over time will, like compound interest, net you extraordinary gains or massive losses (if not used with intent which is the way most people are “using” it).

Eat a few more vegetables at every meal.

Save a little more money every week.

Eat a little less food at every meal.

Say I love you one more time per day.

Do one more workout per month.

To quote Al Pacino’s brilliant halftime speech in Any Given Sunday…

“You know, when you get old in life things get taken from you. I mean that’s…part of life. But, you only learn that when you start losing stuff. You find out life’s this game of inches.

The inches we need are everywhere around us.

They’re in every break of the game, every minute, every second.”

Over time inches add up to miles…in the positive or negative direction.

You get the choice of which direction your inches will go.

The earlier you start purposefully directing your inches the longer they will stretch, the better your results and thus the better your life.

Winning and directing inches is what we’ll be working on in the Master Your Habits to Master Your Life program which starts next week.

Today is your last chance to enroll.

If you want to take control of your habits and inches this program will help you do so.
